Dirtiest player
There’s been some nasty players over the years, Norman Hunter for Leeds, Tommy Smith for Liverpool, Robbie Savage etc:

I watched an old cup game during the week, it was Man Utd at Wimbledon and some of the tackles Vinny Jones put in were outrageous….He was chopping Robbie Keane and Eric Cantona to bits…. Made me laugh! He was a lunatic!

Wouldn’t get away with any of that today.

Anyway what player stands out to you?

Re: Dirtiest player
It is actually funny watching some of the old clip of Vinnie, he got booked after 2 seconds once. Remember he badly hurt Gary STEVENS at Tottenham with an outrageous tackle.

Souness was a dirty cunt. Ben Thatcher another. Kevin Muscat.

Billy Bremner, in fact most of the Leeds team in the 70s

Re: Dirtiest player
Dirtiest can obviously be debated, but without question, Vinny Jones is the worst football player I've ever seen live.

He made Kovac look like Ruud Gullit.

Have to agree with that ! The charity shield game Leeds Vs L’Pool 19 seventy something was outrageous Bremner snide as well as dirty!

Ron Harris.

Bremner was a nasty little badtard

Roy Keane has to be in there.

Peter Storey from Arsenal's 1970 double winning side.

As for our lot,i suppose Julian Dicks. He could put it about a bit.

I always hoped someone would brake Souness’s leg.

Re: Dirtiest player
John Fashanu was a horrible cunt. In that same game he was just as bad as Vinnie Jones.

Mark Dennis was pretty dirty wasn’t he?

Iron Duke 10:51 Sat Jan 22
Re: Dirtiest player
I think Dennis was a bit of a hero for Julian Dicks, which would explain a lot.

All worthy mentions so I’ll throw in one that directly affected us…..Chris Kamara

Re: Dirtiest player
Fashanu is a good shout Duke, horrible fucker on the pitch.

A lot of 'dirty' players play the way they did as it made up for a lack of talent but there were a few who seemed to enjoy hurting/injuring opposing players which in my mind crosses a line.

Re: Dirtiest player
Iron Duke, Julian Dicks was at Birmingham as a youngster with Mick Harford, Mark Dennis, Steve Foster, Noel Blake, Robert Hopkins and Tony Coton . A brutal team of the 80s under Ron Saunders got to be in line for hardest dirtiest team ever , Wimbledon learnt from this lot.

Yeah, that's right, what was essentially a friendly turned into WWII, Keegan and Bremner going at as I remember

When Spurs Dave McKay came back from a broken leg, Bremner tackled him pretty hard and McKay grabbed Bremner by the throat. I bet Bremner never tried it with him anymore?

Re: Dirtiest player
Good shout for Kevin Muscat. He tried (and succeeded) to injure players. Lee Cattermole was another of those.
For overall shithousery Pepe wins the crown.

Bremner
Anyone remember the game at our place back in the 70’s
They took the kick off and the ball went straight to Bremner on the edge of the centre circle
Keith Robson, a renowned nutter, flew in and literally kick him up in the air. Proper airborne and within seconds of the kick off
Never seen the like of it before or after
